we mean by kept.
Not owned. Not sold. Kept: a word that implies an ongoing responsibility rather than a finished transaction. It is the standard we hold ourselves to before a vehicle ever reaches the collection, and the standard we ask every keeper after us to continue.
"Owner" describes a legal relationship. "Kept" describes a practical one. A vehicle that has been kept has had its oil changed before it needed to be, its chassis inspected before the rust became a repair, its history recorded before anyone thought to ask for it. That difference is invisible on a spec sheet and unmistakable within the first mile of driving.
We chose the name Road & Acre because both halves of it imply care over time: a road that's maintained, an acre that's tended. Everything on this page is our attempt to make that more than a nice idea.

01. Provenance
Before we take on a vehicle, we verify what it actually is: mileage cross-checked against MOT history, an HPI check for outstanding finance or write-off markers, and a conversation (often several) with the previous keeper about how the vehicle was actually used. A vehicle with a two-year gap in its history, or a story that doesn't hold up, doesn't make the collection, however good it looks in a photograph.
02. Preparation
Every vehicle is recommissioned by marque specialists to a standard we'd want for our own driveway: fluids, filters and brakes renewed as a matter of course, structural work inspected and made sound, and anything that's a genuine safety matter put right without discussion. What we don't do is disguise honest wear as damage. A worn seat or a faded panel stays exactly as it is, because it's part of the vehicle's record, not a flaw in it.
03. Promise
Every vehicle leaves us with twelve months' mechanical assurance, honoured through a national network of marque specialists so you're never far from someone who understands what you're driving. And when the time eventually comes to move on (a year from now, or twenty), we would rather have the vehicle back than see it disappear into a classified ad. That call is always the first one to make.
The Keeper's Record.
Every vehicle we offer comes with a Keeper's Record: a single document that gathers everything we and its previous keepers know about it. It travels with the vehicle for as long as we're involved with it, and we add to it every time it passes through our hands again.

Twelve months, and a standing invitation.
Every vehicle is covered for twelve months against mechanical failure from the point of handover, honoured through our own workshop or a specialist near you. The network runs the length of the country, not just the M3 corridor. Wear items and cosmetic matters aren't included, in the same way we don't disguise them as new; this is assurance against the unexpected, not a substitute for ordinary care.

Beyond twelve months
We remain the first call for advice, servicing referrals, or a straightforward valuation, for as long as you keep the vehicle.
We would always rather have it back.
Vehicles that leave Road & Acre are meant to come back to us, one way or another, for a service, a question, or eventually a new keeper of their own. We're building the collection to work as a small, continuous line of custody rather than a one-off sale, which is why we'll always make a fair offer for a vehicle we once kept, ahead of it going anywhere else. In time, this is where a standing record of vehicles we've represented will live, starting with the first one.
